Waves of Inspiration: The Story of Atlantic Soap Co.

In the world of handcrafted soaps, Caroline Laye, founder of Atlantic Soap Co., has made a name for herself by blending the beauty of Cape Cod with the artistry of soap making. Her creations are inspired by the Atlantic Ocean, drawing from both the coastal landscapes of New England and traditional soap-making practices from around the world. Each bar is more than just a soap—it’s a tiny piece of art, filled with intention, creativity, and a love for the natural world. Today, we’re diving into her journey, from her early inspirations to the challenges of growing a small business, and what lies ahead for Atlantic Soap Co.

artist at work

Ok, first things first; where does the business/brand name come from? What was the inspiration for choosing it?

Caroline shares that her love for the Atlantic Ocean runs deep. “The Atlantic Ocean makes me think of adventure and a great big world of cultures, craftspeople, travel, and possibilities. I always dreamed bigger than just being a Cape Cod brand, and I’m intrigued by soap-making techniques on both sides of the Atlantic.” This global outlook, mixed with her Cape Cod roots, led to the name Atlantic Soap Co., reflecting the adventurous spirit she wanted to infuse into her brand.

Every bar of soap contains seawater sourced directly from Woods Hole, MA, bringing a literal touch of New England into each product. Caroline’s vision was always to extend beyond just a local business, blending her love for Cape Cod with traditional techniques and modern artistry.

What inspired you to start the brand/go into business?

For Caroline, Atlantic Soap Co. began as a creative outlet during a time when she felt stagnant in her retail career. “I was feeling stuck in my retail sales job and craving a creative outlet that could be all my own. I found a magazine about soap making and got completely hooked! I love the process and the endless possibilities. From day one, I always looked at soap making as a potential business, never just a hobby.”

Her passion for soap making was immediate and powerful. What started as an interest quickly turned into a thriving business, one where Caroline could combine her love of craftsmanship, nature, and entrepreneurship into a brand with lasting appeal.

How would you describe your style or aesthetic?

Caroline’s approach to design is as thoughtful as the process itself. “I consider my soaps to be tiny works of art. I take a minimalist approach to recreating landscapes and natural elements from the coastal environment around me.”

Each bar is crafted with care, often inspired by specific scenes in New England. “Field & Sky is inspired by the salt marsh near my house on an overcast day, and Beach Rose is meant to evoke sunset in the dunes.” Her understated designs invite people to see what they choose, from wind and waves to the patterns left in the sand after the tide recedes.

Did you always have a passion for this industry?

Reflecting on her teenage years, Caroline laughs, “Well, I was definitely obsessed with The Body Shop as a teenager, so I guess I have!” Her interest in beauty and skincare goes way back, but it wasn’t until she stumbled upon soap making that she found her true passion.

Who/What has inspired your career in this field?

For Caroline, the community of female entrepreneurs has been an unexpected but welcome source of inspiration. “Since starting ASC, I have been overwhelmed by the number of female entrepreneurs that have come into my orbit. I had no idea that by starting a business solo, I would gain a vast community of like-minded women to share my journey with.”

This sense of connection and support keeps her motivated, and she continues to draw inspiration from the women she follows and interacts with, both online and in person.

What is the greatest reward of running your own business?

Caroline’s greatest joy comes from having creative control over her work. “Having complete creative control of my business has been the highlight of my professional life.” For her, the ability to bring her vision to life without limitations is a reward in itself.

What’s been the greatest challenge?

Running a business doesn’t come without its challenges, of course. “Keeping on task and limiting distractions (from life, partner, dog, shiny objects, etc.)” is a struggle many entrepreneurs can relate to. Balancing work and life while staying focused on the growth of her brand requires constant attention.

What is currently inspiring you creatively?

Recently, Caroline has been looking across the Atlantic for new ideas. “Lately I have been looking East, across the Atlantic for new soap inspiration. The soap makers of France are some of the very best in the world, and I am looking forward to experimenting with some new techniques.”

This international influence is sure to add another layer of creativity to her already unique approach to soap making.

How have the sites and scenes of New England played into your brand?

New England is at the heart of Atlantic Soap Co., and its influence is everywhere in Caroline’s work. “In so many ways! Every bar of soap contains seawater sourced from Woods Hole, so there is literally a small piece of New England in every bar.” Beyond that, many of her designs are directly inspired by the landscapes of coastal New England, from the sandy beaches to the salt marshes near her home.

What is your New England or Coastal Happy Place?

Caroline’s favorite place is close to home. “My favorite place is my home village of West Falmouth, MA.”

My Perfect Day in West Falmouth would be…

For Caroline, a perfect day is simple: “A walk down to the beach through the dunes with friends and then hanging out all day on the sand bars, watching the tide come in and out of the marsh and feeling so, so lucky.”

Do you have a Dream Project, Product, or Collaboration?

Looking ahead, Caroline dreams of expanding her manufacturing process while maintaining the high standards she’s set for her products. “I want to find the right manufacturer who can make soaps to my specifications in the French Milled (or Triple Milled) style. This would be a big change since all of my soaps until now have been handcrafted by me.”

As for dream collaborations, she has her sights set on a brand close to her heart: “I would love to work with Anthropologie. I worked there as a manager when I was first married, so it feels like coming full circle.”

Where do you see the brand in 5 years?

In the future, Caroline envisions scaling her brand without losing its core values. “I hope to outsource some of the manufacturing and sell to at least three nationwide brands. My DREAM would be to hire a CEO (would have to be the PERFECT fit) so that I could have the title of Founder/Creative Director.”

As Atlantic Soap Co. continues to grow, it’s clear that Caroline’s vision and passion will guide the brand to new heights, all while staying true to the artistry and coastal inspiration that started it all.

Creating a Holiday Product Launch Strategy for Maximum Impact

The holiday season is one of the most exciting times for entrepreneurs. People are in the mood to buy, gift, and treat themselves—and it’s the perfect moment for a well-timed product launch. Whether you’re rolling out a new product or offering a limited-edition holiday collection, a strong launch strategy can make all the difference in your success.

Here’s how to create a holiday product launch strategy that leaves a lasting impact:

1. Choose the Perfect Launch Date

Timing is everything, especially during the holidays. Plan your product launch to hit when customers are actively looking for holiday gifts. Consider these key dates:

  • Black Friday & Cyber Monday: Ideal for big sales and attracting online shoppers.

  • Early December: For customers who want to avoid last-minute shopping stress.

  • Mid-December: Catch the final rush of holiday shoppers who are on the lookout for last-minute deals or gifts.

Once you’ve chosen your launch date, mark it on your calendar and start planning backward to allow enough time for pre-launch promotion.

2. Create Buzz with a Pre-Launch Campaign

Build anticipation and excitement in the weeks leading up to your launch. Tease your audience with sneak peeks, behind-the-scenes content, or countdowns. This can be done through:

  • Social media teasers: Share behind-the-scenes content or a “sneak peek” of your new product to get people talking.

  • Email newsletters: Send out exclusive previews or pre-order opportunities to your most loyal customers.

  • Contests and giveaways: Run a contest where one lucky winner gets early access to the product or wins a free gift.

The key is to keep your audience engaged and excited without giving away too much before the big reveal.

3. Leverage Holiday-Themed Marketing

The holiday season is filled with specific emotions and aesthetics, so make sure your product launch aligns with them. Incorporate holiday colors, themes, and messaging into your marketing materials. Think about:

  • Holiday packaging: Is there a way to package your product in a gift-ready box or with holiday-themed wrapping?

  • Holiday messaging: Use phrases like “limited-edition holiday release” or “the perfect gift for your loved ones” in your marketing copy.

  • Seasonal visuals: Update your website, social media, and email visuals to reflect the festive spirit.

This not only makes your product feel timely but also taps into the emotional aspect of holiday shopping.

4. Offer Early Access to Your Loyal Customers

Reward your most loyal followers or email subscribers by offering them early access to your product. This could be a special pre-sale for VIPs or a discount code for early shoppers. Make your loyal audience feel special, and they’ll be more likely to buy and spread the word.

Bonus tip: Create a sense of exclusivity by offering limited stock for early access. This drives urgency and encourages fast action.

5. Run a Limited-Time Offer

Scarcity and urgency are powerful motivators, especially during the holidays. Launch your product with a limited-time offer to encourage people to buy right away. Some ideas include:

  • Holiday discount: Offer a percentage off for purchases made within the first 24-48 hours of launch.

  • Bundle deals: Package your new product with other items for a special holiday price.

  • Free shipping: Offer free shipping for early buyers or during the launch window.

Make sure to communicate clearly that these offers are only available for a limited time to create a sense of urgency.

6. Utilize Social Proof to Boost Credibility

As part of your launch, gather and share reviews, testimonials, or user-generated content. This helps build trust and credibility. You can:

  • Share quotes from influencers or early adopters who’ve tried your product.

  • Encourage customers to post photos of their purchases with a branded hashtag.

  • Create a highlight reel of positive comments and feedback on social media.

Seeing others rave about your product will give hesitant buyers the nudge they need to purchase.

7. Plan a Multi-Channel Marketing Strategy

Don’t rely on just one platform to get the word out—use a mix of marketing channels to reach your audience. Some key channels to consider:

  • Email marketing: Send a series of emails, from teasers and launch day announcements to reminders about any special offers.

  • Social media: Use Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest to share launch day updates, visuals, and testimonials.

  • Influencer partnerships: Collaborate with influencers to create buzz and extend your product’s reach to their followers.

  • Paid ads: Consider running holiday-themed ads on platforms like Instagram and Facebook to boost visibility.

A cohesive multi-channel strategy ensures that your product launch is visible to your audience no matter where they’re spending their time.

8. Follow Up with Post-Launch Engagement

Your job isn’t done after the launch. Keep the momentum going by continuing to engage with your audience. Thank your customers, share user-generated content, and keep promoting any remaining stock. You could even run a “last chance” promotion for those who missed the initial launch.

Bonus tip: Ask for customer feedback or reviews shortly after they receive their product. This can help you improve future launches and build trust with potential new customers.

Final Thoughts: A successful holiday product launch requires planning, excitement, and a little bit of holiday magic. By following these strategies, you can create a product launch that not only gets your audience excited but also drives sales during one of the most lucrative times of the year. Get ready to make the most of the holiday season and give your business the gift of growth!

Navy Bleu Turns 5: A Coastal Celebration with Friends in Watch Hill

Celebrating 5 Years of Navy Bleu in Watch Hill: A Perfect Coastal Getaway with Friends

Navy Bleu just turned five, and what better way to celebrate than with a close-knit group of friends and influencers in one of the most beautiful coastal spots in New England? Founded by our dear friend and original NECC member, Erin Hornyak, Navy Bleu isn’t just about coastal style—it’s about building a community of women who support each other, inspire creativity, and celebrate the coastal lifestyle we all love.

We marked the occasion with an unforgettable day in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, with a stay at the gorgeous Margin Street Inn, a scenic boat ride to Mystic, and an elegant dinner at the one-and-only Ocean House. It was the kind of day that reminds you of why we all love being part of this community—full of fun, friendship, and beautiful memories.

The Charm of Margin Street Inn

We kicked off the day at the beautiful Margin Street Inn, a place that feels like it was made for celebrations like this. Nestled on the Pawcatuck River with gorgeous grounds and river docks, the Inn immediately made us feel at home. It was the perfect spot to gather and connect, setting the stage for what turned out to be a magical day.

Our group of amazing women included Megan Schinella, aka Camp by Mama, Nina Clarke, Jen Fogelson (who you might know as Preppy Francophile), Diane Rose Spier, Mary Alice Waters, Jackie Ignall, Kayla Mandeville, Navy Bleu’s PR manager Patricia Mae Olson of Piqued PR, and yours truly. It was such a joy to be surrounded by like-minded women who have been cheering on Navy Bleu from the very beginning.

Hitting the High Seas to Mystic and Red 36

After some time soaking in the beauty of the Inn, we made our way to the docks in downtown Watch Hill for a private boat ride to Mystic. There’s something about being out on the water that just feels so Navy Bleu. The views, the breeze, and that carefree coastal vibe—it was all there.

We docked in Mystic and headed straight to Red 36 for lunch. If you’ve never been, it’s a must. The waterfront views and fresh seafood are exactly what you need on a day like this. The food was delicious, and the conversations were even better. We all laughed and shared stories about how Navy Bleu has brought us together over the years, and it reminded me why I love being part of this incredible community of women.

A Fun Shopping Stop at Island Outfitters

After lunch, we headed back to Watch Hill for a little shopping in town. Our first stop – Three Islands, a local boutique that specializes in coastal-inspired fashion, home decor, and accessories, including resort wear, jewelry, and nautical-themed gifts. Justin, the owner, is actually the brother of Sarah Cooper, who owns the Margin Street Inn, so it felt like we were keeping it all in the family! They treated our guests to a choice of outfits from their store, which was such a fun and generous surprise. Everyone left with something special to remember the day by.

Touring Ocean House and Dinner: The Perfect End to the Day

The day wrapped up with an incredible experience at Ocean House, starting with a quick tour of their luxurious penthouse suite. If you haven’t seen it yet, the views and the elegance of the space are absolutely breathtaking. We were also treated to a tour of the Ocean House’s collection of works by famed artist Ludwig Bemelmans, best known for his Madeline children’s books. Bemelmans‘ playful and whimsical style captures the spirit of adventure, making his work a perfect match for the Ocean House. The hotel proudly showcases a range of his pieces, which beautifully complement the grandeur and history of the property.

Finally, we gathered for dinner at the deckside Verandah restaurant Ocean House, where we enjoyed an incredible meal filled with fresh, local flavors. We toasted to Navy Bleu and all the friendships that have blossomed over the past five years. It wasn’t just a celebration of a brand, but of the community of women that has grown around it—women supporting women, sharing ideas, and lifting each other up.

It was a day that reminded us of what makes Navy Bleu and the New England coastal community so special—great style, yes, but also the incredible friendships and support we’ve built along the way. Here’s to the next chapter for Navy Bleu and all the exciting things to come!

Setting the Perfect Community Table with Tuckernuck

There’s something about twilight in Nantucket that feels like pure magic. The salty air, the golden glow of the sunset, and the quiet hum of conversation between friends—it all came together perfectly at our recent dinner party, hosted by the incredible community champion Holly Ruth Finigan, set at the stunning Dips property. Surrounded by some of my closest NECC community friends and adorned with the most gorgeous Tuckernuck tabletop pieces, the night was one to remember.

A Night to Remember

The guest list included some truly inspiring women, each bringing their own energy and charm to the evening. Kylie McCollough, Nicole Carstensen, Jen Crellin, and Amy Doorley-Lucas from the esteemed Mott & Chace Realty team were there, as well as Carolin Walters of Cove Road Real Estate, interior designer Dana Koebbe, and, of course, yours truly! Each of us arrived ready to relax and enjoy the beauty of Nantucket, dressed in a mix of Tuckernuck’s Navy Luella Dress and pieces from the Nantucket Reds x Tuckernuck collection, perfectly embodying the coastal elegance of the night.

The Gorgeous Dips Property

The Dips property, with its expansive views and welcoming atmosphere, felt like the perfect place to gather. Nestled in one of Nantucket’s most picturesque spots, the home offered a dreamy backdrop for our dinner. From its manicured grounds to the cozy nooks where we could sit and chat, every detail of the property added to the sense of community we wanted to create. As the sun set and the stars began to twinkle, it was as though the property itself was an extension of the evening’s warmth and connection.

Creating a Beautiful Table with Tuckernuck

Of course, no dinner party is complete without a thoughtfully set table. For this gathering, we used Tuckernuck’s beautiful Sharp Floral Tablecloth, which brought a vibrant pop of color to the setting, perfectly contrasting with the natural coastal tones around us. Paired with the Dark Brown Rattan Intertwined Placemats, the table had a rustic yet refined feel that made everyone feel instantly at home. It was more than just a table setting—it was a space that invited conversation, laughter, and the sharing of stories, which is exactly what we did all night long.

Gathering as Friends and Colleagues

As we settled in for dinner, there was an undeniable sense of connection. Over a delicious meal, we shared stories about life, work, and everything in between. For me, this was the heart of the evening—gathering with women who are not only successful in their fields but also deeply supportive of one another. It was a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come and dream about what’s ahead. Nights like this remind me that it’s not just about the setting, but the people around the table who make these moments truly special.

Sharing the Nantucket Night

As the conversation flowed and the evening deepened, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the simplicity of it all. Good company, a beautiful table, and the charm of Nantucket—it’s all you need to create something unforgettable. The Tuckernuck pieces brought style and grace to the evening, but the real beauty was in the connection we shared. As we raised our glasses and made toasts under the Nantucket stars, it was clear that this dinner was more than just a meal—it was a celebration of friendship, community, and the moments that bring us all together.

Craft Your Unique Selling Proposition

As a female entrepreneur, I understand the importance of knowing the why behind our businesses and being able to articulate it concisely and impactfully. In a recent workshop I led at the BLOOM 24 Conference, we delved into the essence of crafting a unique selling proposition (USP) that sets our businesses apart from the competition. Here, I’d like to share key points and exercises from the session, offering insights and practical steps to help you refine your own USP.

In the session, I began by emphasizing the importance of understanding and articulating our unique selling proposition. A well-crafted USP not only differentiates our business from competitors but also creates an emotional connection with our customers.

Exercise 1: Next Level Thinking

The first exercise aimed to rediscover why we got into business and identify what’s holding us back from reaching the next level. Participants wrote down their initial goals, their vision for the next level, and the obstacles preventing them from getting there. This exercise helped set the stage for deeper reflection and provided a visual representation of common hurdles faced by female entrepreneurs.

The Essence of a USP

A USP answers three critical questions:

  • Why did you get into business?
  • Why are you uniquely qualified to do what you do?
  • What benefit do you bring to your customers?

These questions help clarify the core of what makes your business unique and why customers should choose you over others.

Components of a Strong USP

  • Identify Your Target Market: Know who your customers are and what they desire.
  • Observe Your Competition: Understand what your competitors are offering and identify gaps that your business can fill.
  • Benefit Sell: Focus on the benefits your product or service provides to customers.

Crafting Your USP: Practical Steps

  • Simple and Concise: Your USP should be clear and to the point, ideally in three sentences or less.
  • Avoid Fluff: Eliminate vague terms and focus on concrete benefits and differentiators.
  • Inspire a Call to Action: Your USP should prompt potential customers to want to learn more.

Exercise 2: Developing Your USP

Participants were given a worksheet to help them hone their USP. This included sections on identifying attributes, understanding customer desires, and differentiating from the competition. I emphasized the importance of collective input, encouraging participants to seek feedback from colleagues and customers.

Real Life Examples

Several participants shared their initial drafts, and I provided feedback to help refine their messages. For instance, one participant who runs a business offering creative activity bags for kids was encouraged to focus on the benefit of keeping children entertained without screens, appealing to both parents and grandparents.

Another participant who provides musical therapy for seniors was guided to emphasize the therapeutic benefits and emotional connection their service offers, making their USP clear and compelling.

Through a strategic refinement of their unique selling proposition (USP) and a clear, compelling communication of their mission, Rahab’s Rope saw a remarkable 150% increase in online sales within six months, along with substantial media attention and acclaim.

By following these steps and continuously refining your unique selling proposition, you can effectively differentiate your business, connect with your customers, and overcome the hurdles to reaching the next level of success.

Empowering Female Entrepreneurs: Insights from Parfaire Consulting

Sisters and business owners, Mimi and Aiko Striplin know firsthand what it means to build something from the ground up. Mimi brings years of creative business experience in retail with her success at The Tiny Tassel, and Aiko brings years of accounting and operational experience with a knack for numbers and management. Together, they’re a duo you’re sure to learn from. Here they share some of the fundamentals they are using to help creative entrepreneurs find clarity and empowerment in their own businesses with Parfaire Consulting.

Embracing Perfection

Mimi emphasizes the importance of redefining perfection for oneself. “We encourage and support female entrepreneurs to create their meaning of perfect for themselves, for their life, for their brand, and to create more peace and ease in their brand.” Parfaire, which means “to perfect,” aims to help entrepreneurs achieve their unique vision of perfection.

Creating Clarity

Mimi and Aiko both stress the need for clarity in business operations. “Our main goal is to create clarity,” Mimi said. By focusing on perfecting vision, finances, mindset, and workflow, they help entrepreneurs work on their businesses rather than getting stuck in the day-to-day grind.

Understanding Financials

Aiko, with her extensive background in accounting, highlights the importance of knowing key financial metrics. “Most small business owners do not know their numbers,” she noted. She emphasized understanding gross revenue, top three expenses, and net income. “If you accept that lie, you’re going to be bad at numbers and your business is not going to succeed,” Mimi bluntly adds.

Key Financial Advice

  • Track Sales and Expenses: Use systems like QuickBooks to keep everything in line.
  • Separate Personal and Business Finances: This clarity helps in banking and credit applications.
  • Forecasting: Set goals that are revenue-based to plan for future growth.

Templatizing and Delegation

Mimi discusses the importance of templatizing tasks to free up time and ensure consistency. “If you can’t get to a point where you are delegating and automating some things in your business, your business will not be able to sustainably scale,” she advised. She encourages entrepreneurs to document processes and create templates for repetitive tasks.

Time Management and Self-Care

The sisters underscore the necessity of marking time off and prioritizing self-care. “The easiest thing that we’ve seen female entrepreneurs do is take the care for themselves off the plate first,” Mimi said. They recommended conducting a time audit to understand how time is spent and identifying areas for improvement.

Practical Tips for Self-Care and Time Management

  • Mark Your Days Off: Prioritize rest and time for yourself.
  • Conduct a Time Audit: Track your activities to identify time-wasting habits and opportunities for delegation.
  • Delegate Tasks: Hire help for tasks that are not in your zone of genius.

Implementing Changes

Mimi and Aiko’s consultancy offers one-on-one coaching sessions to help entrepreneurs implement changes. “We aren’t just talking at you through these sessions and just being another voice adding noise to your entrepreneurship journey,” Mimi explained. They provide accountability and practical support to ensure entrepreneurs take actionable steps toward their goals.

Define Your Perfect

Mimi and Aiko encourage entrepreneurs to define what perfect means for them. “We want y’all to just take 30 seconds to think about what does perfect mean to you and your business and write it out; that’s the first step to defining your path,” says Mimi.

Key Takeaways

  • Embrace and Redefine Perfection: Create your meaning of perfect and strive for it.
  • Achieve Clarity: Focus on clear goals and streamline your workflow.
  • Know Your Numbers: Understand your financial metrics and plan accordingly.
  • Templatize and Delegate: Document processes and delegate tasks to ensure sustainable growth.
  • Prioritize Self-Care: Mark time off and conduct time audits to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
  • Seek Accountability: Utilize coaching and support to implement changes and achieve your goals.

Bliss & Bellinis: A Sip of Inspiration with Anna Barnes

Meet Anna Barnes, the inspiring influencer and content creator behind Bliss & Bellinis, a blog born from a perfect blend of Italian piazza magic and classic, feminine style. After sipping her first, freshest Bellini, Anna knew life should be all about those moments of bliss—and her platform brings that spirit to life!

In our exclusive off-the-grid conversation, Anna shares the story of how she went from a PR pro to a full-time creative, balancing her passion for content creation with her love of small, local businesses. She takes us behind the scenes of her signature style—think chic dresses, red lipstick, and timeless New England coastal vibes.

Dive into her Nantucket favorites (hello, Painkiller cocktails and beachside bike rides!), her dream collab with Hill House Home, and her best advice for living a life that’s equal parts fun and fabulous. If you’re looking for creative inspiration, a perfect summer escape, or just an excuse to raise a glass to life’s simple pleasures, you’re in the right place. 🥂✨

Read the full conversation with Anna and discover why Bliss & Bellinis is the creative escape we all need right now!

Where does the business/brand name come from? What was the inspiration for choosing it?
I lived in Italy the summer I turned 20. One night, I was sitting in a beautiful Piazza and tasted my first (and the freshest) Bellini I’ve ever had. It was pure bliss. I jokingly started saying “Life can’t be all Bliss & Bellinis, but it should be” and it stuck from there.

What inspired you to start the brand/go into business?
I was so inspired by the OG bloggers I read in college everyday: Atlantic Pacific, Cupcakes & Cashmere, Gal Meets Glam, Lemon Stripes. I knew I wanted to create my own little corner of the internet but with grad school on the horizon, I knew I needed to put all my brain power in my thesis. I promised myself that once I was done with grad school, I’d let me creativity take over. I turned my final thesis is on May 4th 2014, and Bliss & Bellinis went live the next day.

How would you describe your style or aesthetic?
Classic, feminine, fun and comfortable. Usually wearing a dress.

Did you always have a passion for this industry?
I used to create magazines at home and share them with my female classmates starting in elementary school. I’d make fun quizzes to determine what season you’re most like, or what’s your color aura and write about fashion we wish we could wear (think American Eagle and Limited Too but hey, girls in plaid uniforms can dream!) I’ve also genuinely loved sharing tips and hacks with my friends. I’m the opposite of a gatekeeper, I LOVE sharing where I got something, how to make something easier, recipes, etc. The blog became just another way to share little things that work for me.

Who/What has inspired your career in this field?
Emily Schuman. I read Cupcakes & Cashmere from the very beginning. She, so effortlessly, shared her life, recipes, hacks, makeup tips, and so on. She was *the* cool girl (and still is!) And my parents! I mentioned to them, while in grad school, that a blog may be something I’m interested in, I’m a lucky kid because I’ve always had their unwavering support. Theirs were the first two emails in my system. My dad was very creative and loved the idea, though he always referred to it as my “column” but none-the-less he had a writer in the family! 🙂

What is the greatest reward of running your own business?
Working with small, local business. They truly fuel our communities and I’ve loved being able to support and share them with my own community.

What’s been the greatest challenge?
I work in PR as my “normal 9-5” job so sometimes work and life get busy and unfortunately my passion project takes a backseat.

What is currently inspiring you creatively?
My female friendships, Sezane, summer sunshine, and as always: red lipstick

How has the the sites and scenes of New England played into your brand?
I’m originally from Ohio so the magic of New England, especially in the summer, is not lost on me. The beautiful homes, the glimmer of the water at golden hour, the hydrangeas, seaside-scapes; its all just perfection.

What is your New England or Coastal Happy Place?
I truly love where we live but recently I visited Nantucket for the first time and I think that may take the cake.

My Perfect Day in that place would be…
Waking up early to a slow morning before a stroll around town, perhaps bopping into a few boutiques, especially For Now. Breakfast & coffee outside before grabbing bikes and riding to Jetties. Lunch is, of course, a packed sandwich from Born & Bread. Is there anything better than enjoying a sandwich on the beach?! An afternoon in the sun, followed by buck-a-shuck oysters and cold Painkiller cocktail at Sandbar- a must. Then a leisurely ride back to get changed for dinner and out for the night.

Do you have a Dream Project, Product or Collaboration?
Hill House Home, I LIVE in a Nap Dress. I also LOVE to write about travel!

Where do you see the brand in 5 years?
Having fun! For me, my goal is to always be having fun with Bliss & Bellinis. If it starts to feel like “too, too much” I reevaluate my goals.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
“If you’re not having fun, you’re doing it wrong.” and “Trust Your Gut”

What is your favorite inspirational quote
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” – Maya Angelou
